Cuba present at the May Day celebration at Solidarity House in Barbados

Cuban Kiosk is open

Yesterday, May Day, the National Workers Union of Barbados summoned all the citizens of that country to celebrate that day of the workers, which has been held in Barbados for 70 years, in the Palace of Trade Unions: Solidarity House, its headquarters , organizing a day for the family. The Embassy of Cuba was represented by a kiosk assembled by diplomatic personnel and Cuban sports coaches. The representatives of the Association of Cuban Residents ¨Martires de Barbados¨ also actively participated.

Cuban Chamber of Commerce is a founding member of the Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM) created last week in Barbados.

Founding Meeting of the Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce in Barbados

With the participation of the Director of International Relations of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Celia Labora, the Caribbean Network of Chambers of Commerce was established last week in Barbados. Executive Directors of sixteen (16) Chambers of Commerce across the Caribbean region gathered at the Accra Beach Resort and Spa in Barbados on April 1 and 2, 2019, for the Official Launch and First Meeting of the Network of Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM). During the two day meeting, history was created with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing the Network.

The Honorable Adrian C. Forde, Member of Parliament and Minister of Youth and Community Empowerment of Barbados, received at the headquarters of his Ministry the Ambassador of Cuba, Sergio Jorge Pastrana, for a courtesy visit in which they discussed various interests related to the possibilities of cooperation between both Antillean islands in important areas of social development.

Cuban Ambassador to Barbados paid a Courtesy Visit to Principal and Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of West Indies, Professor Eudine Barriteau.

The new Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts was high on the list of discussion points when Cuban Ambassador, Sergio de Jesus Jorge Pastrana, paid a courtesy visit to Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Eudine Barriteau on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Barriteau laid out the advanced plans on the new Faculty – the latest addition to the Cave Hill Campus in over 50 years – and its important role in acknowledging the significance of Caribbean culture on the world stage.
