Cuba reiterates at the UN its commitment with decolonization and the right of all peoples to self-determination

New York, October 10, 2025. – The Permanent Representative of Cub to the United Nations, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, addressed the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly, during the debate on agenda items 54 to 58 on decolonization.

The diplomat reaffirmed Cuba’s historical commitment with the definitive eradication of colonialism and the respect for the inalienable right of all peoples to self-determination, in accordance with the charter of the United Nations and Resolution 1514 (XV).

Tribute paid to James Joseph O'Kelly, Irish journalist and parliamentarian, at Dublin's Glasnevin Cemetery, as the first activity of the First National Meeting of Cubans Residing in Ireland and Their Descendants.

Dublin, October 10, 2025.  As the first activity of the First National Meeting of Cubans Residing in Ireland and their Descendants, to be held on October 10 and 11, this morning, Cubans and Irish people paid tribute to the Irish journalist and parliamentarian, James Joseph O'Kelly, who interviewed, at risk to his life, the Father of the Nation, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in the Mambí jungle and wrote his memoirs about his visit to Cuba in late 1872 and early 1873 in the book entitled "Mambi Land".

Persistence and tightening of the blockade policy against Cuba

New York, October 9th, 2025.-  Ignoring the unequivocal position of the international community, expressed in successive resolutions of the UN General Assembly, the US government continues to rigorously enforce the laws that make up the complex framework of the blockade against Cuba.

Vienna. October 9. Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to preventing and combating the smuggling of migrants at the meetings of the Working Group on the Smuggling of Migrants, held on October 9 and 10 at the Vienna International Center.

Lieutenant Colonel Abel Martínez Grandio, head of the Technical Investigation Department and member of the Cuban delegation, emphasized that Cuba promotes legal, orderly, and safe emigration as a State Party to the Palermo Convention and the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea, and Air.
