Cuba condemns and rejects in the strongest possible terms an anti-Cuban event promoted by the United States at the United Nations headquarter

The U.S. Department of State issued a press release on 12 October, informing of the Government's intention to use the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber of the United Nations to hold an event aimed at launching a Campaign called "Jailed for What?" against Cuba on Tuesday, 16 October 2018.

This action at the ECOSOC Chamber, a Major Organ of the Organization, seeks to tarnish the name of the United Nations in an act against a Member State, in contravention of the purposes and principles of the Charter.

US hostile rhetoric escalation

Statement by the Director General in charge of the United States, Carlos Fernández de Cossío

The Director General in charge of the United States Carlos Fernández de Cossío alerted that in recent months the US government has escalated its hostile rhetoric against Cuba.  “It makes use of reiterated statements from high level  officials  aimed at manufacturing pretexts that steer toward a climate of greater bilateral tension”, said the official.

"Night Landscapes”: Exhibition of Cuban Art in Palmerston North

Palmerston North, October 13th, 2018. The exhibition "Night Landscapes" by the Cuban artist Analía Amaya was launched at the Central Library.

The work of the young artist is a recreation of nocturnal landscapes of different cities such as Havana, Santiago de Chile and Wellington. In her work, she experiments with different media such as installation, video-installation, video art and digital photograph. Lights, nature, landscape and everyday life are part of her explorations with a poetical and personal approach.
