Your Excellency Francisco Fernández Peña, Ambassador of Cuba, Dr. José Balaguer, Member of the Secretariat of the Cuban Communist Party, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Members of the Cuban Community, Distinguished Guests:I thank His Excellency Ambassador Fernández Peña for hosting a reception to commemorate forty-five years of diplomatic relations between the Governments of Barbados and Cuba. I am honoured to deliver remarks on behalf of the Government of Barbados on this auspicious occasion.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Barbadian Parliament, Mia Amor Mottley, received the delegation chaired by comrade José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Department of International Relations, within the framework of his visit to the country to celebrate 45 years of bilateral diplomatic relations. The political leader of the Labor Party of Barbados (BLP) invited four other parliamentarians from her caucus and two candidates, most of whom accompanied her on her visit to Cuba in 2015.

On November 25, the day marking the first anniversary of the passage to the immortality of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who inaugurated the monument to the victims of terrorism in his visit to Barbados in 1998, the delegation partisan and Cuban academic presided over by Dr. José Ramón Balaguer, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and integrated by Idalmis Brooks of the Department of International Relations, and the professors of the University of Havana Dr.

On November 25, coinciding with the first anniversary of the passage of the Commander in Chief to immortality, his comrade in struggle, Commander José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera, Member of the Secretariat and Head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, he was the keynote speaker and closed the Second Colloquium on Fidel Castro's Legacy, convened by the UWI Cave Hill Campus, organized by a working group under the direction of Professor Dr.
