Cuban diplomat stresses importance of Caribbean meeting

Nassau, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will serve as a platform to learn about the challenges and needs of developing island states, a Cuban official said today.

From her Twitter account, Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez also described this conclave as an important space for exchange.

 

Cuba evokes Fidel Castro, a world-class leader of the Revolution

 (Prensa Latina) Considered one of the decisive figures of the 20th century, Fidel Castro and the Revolution he led surpassed the borders of Cuba, which is paying tribute to him on Saturday on his 96th birthday.

The anti-imperialist and national liberation movement that led to victory on January 1, 1959, became the stage for him to deploy his genius as a strategist and statesman when the world was going through the tensions of the Cold War between the United States and the then Soviet Union.

Cuba condemns manipulation of nuclear arms control matters

Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed the need to do away with political manipulation, selectivity and double standards in matters of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

In his Twitter account, the Cuban leader affirmed that his country ratified its firm position in favor of the prohibition and total elimination of this type of weaponry, in the general debate of the Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), of the United Nations.
