Secretary (East) of External Affairs of India received the Cuban Ambassador.

INDIA, May 19, 2016.- The Secretary (East) of  External Affairs .H.E.  Ms. Preeti Saran received on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs to H.E. Mr. Oscar Martinez Cordovés, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in India.

During the meeting both sides reviewed the positive bilateral ties and the possibilities for strengthening them in the tourism sector, health, pharmaceuticals, etc., working together with the full support of India to advance these objectives.

Cuba and India exchanged on multilateral issues

INDIA, April 12sd, 2016.- The Ambassador of Cuba in India, Oscar I. Martínez Cordovés, held a meeting whit the Joint Secretary UNES (Economic and Social Affairs United Nations) Puneet Agrawal, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the occasion, they examined issues related to the successful and growing cooperation in multilateral affairs that has existed between both countries for 56 years, and other international relations matters.

US Blockade against Cuba Condemned in India

India, Mar 4 2016. The Church of North India (CNI) a Protestant denomination with more than 1.5 million faithful, condemned today the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed the United States against Cuba for more than 50 years.

During a religious ceremony at a temple on the occasion of World Day of Prayer, this year devoted to Cuba, Communication Secretary of the CNI, Sushma Ramswami, demanded the end of this punitive measure.

Indian press highlights the intervention of the Cuban Ambassador designated in this country

New Delhi, January 12 th 2016. The New Indian Express, published fragments of the intervention of H.E.  Mr. Oscar Martinez Cordovés, new Ambassador of Cuba designated to India during his participation in a symposium on “Left alternative”. This activity was at the 4th International Congress on Kerala Studies organized by the Indian Communist Party Marxist, from 9 to 10 January 2016 in that Indian state.

Prime Minister of Barbados demands at the UN the total lifting of the blockade against Cuba.

Ratifying the historical position of Barbados in support of the Cuban resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States to Cuba" presented for 25 consecutive years before the General Assembly of the United Nations, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart included in his speech to the general debate of the world organization the requirement that such unilateral sanction to be lifted completely. Similar position has been expressed in the past by the Barbadian Foreign Minister Maxine McClean in different international forums.
