Return of Cuban citizens stranded in other nations by travel regulations adopted in the country
Since the announcement of the travel regulations to and from Cuba, a measure adopted by the Cuban authorities as part of the national plan to prevent and combat COVID-19, more than two thousand Cubans have returned to the national territory, by air or sea, since last March 20th, from a dozen countries, including Germany, Angola, Barbados, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Italy, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Equatorial Guinea.
Letter sent to the President of the US by Carlos Lazo, Cuban American.
The letter says:
"Amid the world emergency, we implore you to lift the commercial and financial sanctions imposed by the US government to Cuba.
At least during this pandemic, the American government extend a friendly and solidarity hand to the Cuban people."
Cuban Medical Teams in 22 nations, against Covid-19, despite US blockade.
More than 1 450 Cuban health professionals, members of Contingent Henry Reeve, have travelled to 22 countries in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Middle East to assist in the fight against Covid-19.
Cuba's international solidarity and sacrifice in the fight against COVID-19 came amid the US embargo against the Caribbean island nation of some 11 million people, officially imposed in February 1962, which has affected all sectors on the island nation for almost six decades.
