Mr. President;

The world’s situation is ever more dangerous and challenging.

Now more than ever before, the very survival of the human species is at stake. International peace and security are being threatened by conflicts; predatory and non-conventional wars; acts of aggression and regime change attempts; and an arms race that is dilapidating enormous resources that are indispensable for the sustainable development of our peoples.

Madame Chair,

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the grave problems and colossal challenges human kind was already faced with and exposed new threats, including the frailty of health care systems.

The promotion, protection and respect of the right to health are particularly relevant in the current context.

African Union condemns the US blockade against Cuba

For the twelfth consecutive time, the Assembly of the African Union, made up of the Heads of State and Government of Africa, approved the “Resolution on the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba for the United States of America”.

It happened in occasion of celebrating the 34th Annual Ordinary Summit of the regional organization, held in virtual format, from Addis Abeba.

Two new future Doctors from Botswana to study in Cuba

The Cuban Embassy in Botswana successfully concluded the process for these two new young boys to initiate studies of Medicine, in Havana, as part of our International Scholarships Program.

Both are very well prepared and talented towards Medicine. We wished them a safe trip and success.

Six Batswana doctors have already graduated from ELAM, and work in diferent healths institutions across the country, where they share what learned in Cuba.

Voices from Botswana join the international movement condemning the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral List of States Sponsors of Terrorism, of the US State Department.

Countless examples demonstrate that Cuba is not a terrorist country.

Reality is the other way around. Cuba is more a victim of terrorist actions organized from the US territory, with both human and material highly costs.
