Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Britain donates £50,000 to Hurricane Melissa victims

Amidst recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa, the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba (CSC) in Great Britain has announced an immediate donation of fifty thousand pounds sterling to support relief efforts in our country.

According to the British organisation, the funds come from its "Cuba Vive" campaign and will be used by the Cuban authorities to address humanitarian priorities in the most affected provinces, including vital medical assistance.

On 21 October, in London, the Cuban Embassy, with the support of the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba (CSC), hosted an unforgettable gala in celebration of Cuban Culture Day. Entitled ‘Cuban Mosaic: A Night of Identity and Resilience,’ the event brought together Cuban artists and friends of the island in the United Kingdom to offer a broad and exciting sample of our music, dance and poetry. The result was a vibrant and emotional evening at the Bolívar Hall of the Venezuelan Embassy in the United Kingdom. 

“Hands Off Cuba!” in Liverpool: solidarity against the blockade

On 28 and 30 September, Ambassador Ismara Vargas and First Secretary for Political Affairs Pablo Ginarte attended two events in Liverpool in solidarity with Cuba, organised by the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba (CSC). These were parallel activities within the framework of the Labour Party's Annual Conference, on this occasion at the public meeting ‘Hands Off Cuba!’, which reaffirmed support for Cuban sovereignty and the humanitarian campaign Cuba Vive Medical Aid Appeal.

Cuban ambassador denounces blockade and expresses gratitude for solidarity at Trades Union Congress (TUC)

With deep gratitude, the Ambassador acknowledged the "extraordinary and unwavering solidarity" of the British people, embodied by the Campaign for Solidarity with Cuba and the trade union movement. She highlighted the "Cuba Vive" medical appeal, a joint effort that has raised nearly £200,000 and sent four containers of vital medical supplies to the island so far this year.

Monday 9 June 2025 – Brighton. On the sidelines of the 2025 GMB Congress in Brighton, trade unionists, campaigners and internationalists gathered in solidarity with the Cuban people at a packed fringe meeting titled “Hands Off Cuba!”, hosted by the GMB North West & Irish Region, and supported by Cuba Solidarity Campaign and Thompsons Solicitors.

Screen Cuba 2025: a cinematic bridge between Cuba and the UK concludes.

 The second edition of the Cuban film festival, Screen Cuba, came to a successful conclusion in London, highlighting the growing appreciation of the British public, especially among young people, for the island's cinema.

London dressed up from 16 to 29 March 2025 to host the second edition of Screen Cuba, the festival that celebrates the richness and diversity of Cuban cinema. In the capital, the screenings took place in two emblematic venues: The Garden Cinema and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), which contributed to consolidating Screen Cuba as an interesting event on the London cultural billboard. The cities of Aberystwyth, Pontypridd, Oxford and Nottingham also hosted presentations.

London, November 8 - The Cuban Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ismara Vargas Walter, made a very successful visit to the city of Bristol, where she met with friends and sympathizers of the Cuban cause, visited emblematic places in the city and participated in various activities with solidarity organizations, trade union leaders and local Labour Party councillors. This day of exchange was a demonstration of the friendship and solidarity that unites the Cuban people with the British community, especially at a time when Cuba is facing the U.S.
