Homage to traditions, arts, and expressions that have forged Cuban cultural heritage

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto celebrated National Cuban Culture Day this October 20th with an emotional event to pay tribute to the traditions, arts, and expressions that have forged our Cuban cultural heritage, which encompasses the influence and syncretism of an entire cultural amalgamation that gave rise to the birth of our identity.

Present at the event were: Oscar Vigil, president of the Canadian Council for Hispanic Heritage; members of different solidarity organizations with Cuba; and Cuban residents in Toronto.

Cuba sings and blossoms

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto participated, on October 10th and 11th, 2025, in the 1st Festival dedicated to the "trova" musical style held in Toronto, "Cuba sings and blossoms."

Organized by Nancy Quetzal and Ernesto Espinoza, the event featured the Cuban "trovadores" (troubadours) Raul Torres, Fidel Diaz Castro, and Erdwin Vichot, accompanied by a group of artists of different nationalities who joined together, armed with guitars, violins, saxophones, flutes, and poetry to represent the ultimate expression of Cubanness through music.

Interesting meeting with Canadian MP

This October 9th, the Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, was received at the House of Commons by Member of Parliament Don Davies, interim leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP).

In a very interesting meeting, described as such by the Cuban Ambassador on social network X, both parties exchanged views on the international situation and the potential development of relations between Cuba and Canada.

Future collaboration with Canadian magazine

Ottawa - On the afternoon of September 29th, Ambassador Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz received the CEO of "Diplomat & International Canada" magazine, Abdel Karim Awwad, at the Embassy of Cuba.

Karim Awwad explained in detail the purpose of the magazine, the type of articles that is published in it, and took the opportunity to praise Cuban culture, its traditions, its people, which is - he pointed out - among the best that a visitor to the Island can find, beyond sun and beach tourism, tobacco, and rum.
