Cuba and Barbados to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of bilateral relations this year.

Barbadian Deputy Foreign Minister, David Bulbulia, presided over a working meeting at the Chancellery with Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, which analyzed important ongoing actions in different spheres of bilateral relations as part of a joint action plan with a view to celebrating the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on December 8th. Vice-Chancellor, Caribbean Unit Leader, Sandra Gittens, CARICOM Ambassador Robert Morris, and the Caribbean Unit, Mr. Corey Archer, attended the meeting.

Caribbean Broadcasting Union to hold its 2016 Annual Conference in Cuba.

The General Secretary of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), Sonia Gill, announced during a working meeting with representatives of the Barbadian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Cuban Embassy that its 47th Annual General Assembly will be made this year in Havana, Cuba, under a collaboration agreement with the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT).

Foreign Ministry representatives of both countries meet to discuss issues of common interest for the next chairmanship of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC) which will be occupied by Cuba in the period 2016-2017. To this end, the Director of the Caricom-Caribbean Unit, Rodney Taylor, Ambassador of Barbados to Caricom, Robert Morris, and the official Mandisa Downes, received the Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández Peña.

Mrs. Joyce Bourne, Director of Multilateral Affairs of the Foreign Ministry received the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernández Peña, occasion to discuss cooperation in the field of external relations, as both countries share spaces in various agencies of the United Nations. Besides commenting on the progress of various political international issues, was exchanged on the subject of applications for positions in some international institutions.

Mrs. Simone Rudder, Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in office, received  the Cuban Foreign Ministry Barbadian Ambassador, Francisco Fernández, meeting served to review the main issues of bilateral and regional agenda. The occasion was propitious to coordinate actions in the face of the Third CELAC Summit, to be held on 28th and 29th of January in Costa Rica. Also, the willingness to further develop cooperation in various spheres was identified.
