As part of the process of granting penitentiary benefits established by law, and in accordance with Article 90, subsection II of the Constitution of the Republic, the decision was made to release 2,010 convicted individuals through a pardon approved by the Cuban government.

This humanitarian and sovereign gesture followed a careful analysis of the nature of the crimes committed, the good behavior maintained in prison, the completion of a significant portion of the sentence, and the health status of those involved.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Barbados, Yanet Stable Cárdenas, along with the Vice President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Tania Aguiar Fernández, participated in the event “Strengthening the Participation of the Private Sector in Early Warning Systems in the Caribbean,” held in Barbados on March 24 and 25 of this year. This meeting fostered a fluid exchange and a fruitful discussion about the challenges, as well as the best practices of the business sector in disaster response.
