CELAC Summit to adopt a Special Declaration on Peace and Nuclear Disarmament

The IV CELAC Summit Meeting recently held in Quito, Ecuador, approved several relevant documents to our nations. In addition to the substantial and comprehensive Final Declaration, this time it was adopted a Special Declaration on the commitment to advance in multilateral negotiations on Nuclear Disarmament. Its first point was precisely to consolidate Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, as it was proclaimed at the II Summit held in Havana in January 2014. Eminent panelists extol CARICOM-Cuba relations

In the panel discussion that was the focus of the activity organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Barbados to pay tribute to the 43 Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Barbados as well as the historical ties between Cuba and CARICOM, eminent guest speakers, Sir Shridath Ramphal, Dr. Tennyson Joseph and Ambassador Robert Morris, focused these fruitful relationships from different angles. Barbadian companies attended to the International Trade Fair of Havana.

Five Barbadian companies and two entities resident in Barbados were represented at the 33rd edition of the International Trade Fair of Havana (FIHAV-2015), which this time was attended by 71 countries and 50 chambers of commerce and institutions promoting trade and investment in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa, and for the first time, the United States of America.

Acting Chancellor chairs the commemoration of the Cubana airliner´s bombing.

In an emotional ceremony held at the Memorial erected in Paynes Bay to the victims of the heinous attack on the flight CU-455 of Cubana October 6, 1976, senior government officials, Parliament and organizations of Barbadian movement of solidarity with Cuba, deposited several wreaths and spoke heartfelt words, in which the conjugated tribute to the fallen, dissatisfaction because after 39 years has not done full justice and condemnation of terrorism latent identified as a challenge for the entire Caribbean.

CDEMA is invited to participate on natural disasters workshop in Havana.

The Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Management Agency (CDEMA), Mr. Ronald Jackson, accepted the invitation by the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez, to designate a representative for the Workshop on Local Disaster Management, which be held in the Havana from 26 to 30 October. It thus complies with one of the agreements reached at the CARICOM-Cuba Summit to ensure that all member countries of the Community and its specialized agencies receive adequate training in this area.
