Cuba and Cook Islands celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations.

Wellington, August 31. A reception was held at the Cuban embassy to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Cook Islands.

Members of Parliament and the Diplomatic Corps attended and enjoyed the performance of the well-known singer Caii-Michele.

The High Commissioner for the Cook Islands, H.E. Elizabeth Wright-Koteka, and Ambassador Edgardo Valdés highlighted the cooperation between the two countries as an example of what two small islands can achieve by working together. 

 

Tourist operators visit the Embassy of Cuba.

Wellington, August 25. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés received at the Embassy Rachel Williams, managing director of the "Viva Expeditions" agency, based in Auckland, and Victoria Keating of X Travel in Queenstown.

Both have years of experience in promoting Cuba as a tourist destination and are making plans after the total opening of the New Zealand borders.

We will work together in that direction.

 

Commemoration of the 96th anniversary of Fidel.

Wellington, August 13. On the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the birth of the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, friends of Cuba gathered at the Pukerua Bay Tennis Club to pay tribute to him.

Almost 13 thousand km away from Cuba, more than 50 people shared the performance of the Mokomoko band, the verses of the renowned poet Apirana Taylor, and the words of tribute by Pat Hanley and the Cuban Ambassador remembering Fidel.

In an atmosphere of solidarity, we shared anecdotes and ideas of future actions for a better world.

 

 

Ambassadors of GRULAC meet at the Embassy of Cuba.

Wellington, August 11. The Ambassadors of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, and Peru, together with the second of the representation of Mexico, met at the Embassy of Cuba to exchange ideas on joint actions in favor of our relations with New Zealand.

They also coordinated an upcoming meeting with the New Zealand Foreign Minister, the Honorable Nanaia Mahuta, as part of the steps to strengthen ties between our region and the host country.

GRULAC members maintain an excellent relationship to promote the common interests of our countries.

 

Cuban ambassador attends Cook Islands celebration.

Wellington, August 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the Cook Islands Constitution Day celebration, invited by the High Commissioner of that nation, H.E. Elizabeth Right-Koteka.

On the occasion of said commemoration, the ambassador transmitted a message from Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero to his counterpart from the Cook Islands, reiterating our willingness to strengthen bilateral relations.

On September 2, Cuba and the Cook Islands will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Cuban ambassador presents business and investment opportunities.

Auckland, July 26. At the "Lunch with Ambassadors" organized by the Latin America-New Zealand Business Council (LANZBC) at the exclusive Northern Club in Auckland, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés made a presentation on business and investment opportunities in Cuba.

He spoke about the control of the epidemic, the vaccines, the reactivation of tourism, the facilities for trade and investment, the ZEDM, the Portfolio of Opportunities, the Havana Fair, the blockade, and its consequences.

Auckland July 22. With the assistance of friends of Cuba from several generations, a public act was held in Auckland to commemorate National Rebellion Day.

The Cuban Ambassador updated those present on the situation in the country and presented the ICAP 60th Anniversary medal to the New Zealand/Cuba Friendship Society, in recognition of many years of support for the Revolution.

 

New Ambassador of New Zealand in Cuba presented credentials.

Havana, July 6. Her Excellency Sara Meymand presented to President Miguel Díaz-Canel the Letters of Credence that accredit her as the new ambassador of New Zealand to Cuba.

Meymand, who is based in Mexico, held important meetings during her visit to the island.

Undoubtedly, her preparation and energy will contribute to the strengthening of our relations.

 

Cuban Ambassador participates in Celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.

Wellington, June 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand.

Following a service at St Paul's Cathedral, he attended a reception at Parliament, where he had the opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Jacinda Ardern.
