Cuban Ambassador to lay a wreath at Barbadian Remembrance Day

On November 30, 2017, the Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández, was invited to attend to the Remembrance Day Laying Wreath and Military Parade to remember Barbadian veterans of the two World Wars. An Interdenominational Service was held presided over by Acting Governor General, Sir Philip Greaves, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Chief Justice, Sir Marston Gibson and Leader of the Opposition, Mia Mottley, will lay wreaths at the base of the Cenotaph followed by specially invited members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries.

Cycling among the sports with the highest results in Barbados

Among the seven disciplines included in the cooperation agreement in force during the last decade between the National Sports Council (NSC) of Barbados and Cubadeportes SA, cycling is one of the sports that has achieved the most results in the medal table of several events between 2012 and 2017, being one of the factors that has most influenced the permanence of the Cuban technician, Mijail Santos Jiménez, who has been able to integrate the various scientific elements of the Cuban training system and introduce them into the country.

Called by the Department of Government and Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, the Second Colloquium on the Legacy of Fidel Castro at UWI Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, was held on November 24-25, 2017 with the participation of a VIP Cuban political and academic delegation and other distinct Caribbean intellectuals, marking the first anniversary of his passing. The forum was opened by the Minister of Education of Barbados, Hon Ronald Jones, the Deputy Principal, Dr. Clive Landis, and the Cuban Ambassador, Dr. Francisco Fernández.

Minister Donville Inniss chairs Barbadian delegation to the FIHAV-2017

The Minister of International Business, Donville Inniss, chaired the delegation of Barbados to the 35th annual edition of the International Fair of Havana (FIHAV-2017) held between October 30 and November 3 last. The broad representation of Barbados was integrated this year by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), Eddy Abed, the Vice President of the Investment Development Corporation (BIDC) and managers of six companies, three of them present for the first time in this important forum.
