US complicity with violent acts against Cuba is strongly rejected

Declaración del MINREX

The US judicial authorities have decided to release Alexander Alazo, the individual who, on April 30, 2020, stood in the middle of the street and shot 32 rounds with a machine gun against the Cuban embassy in that country, at the moment when 7 persons stayed inside the building. This action, perpetrated on a central avenue of Washington D.C., the US capital, against a diplomatic mission, with the stated purpose of causing damage, would qualify as a terrorist act in any country of the world. But that is not the case in the United States, much less when this is about a violent action against Cuba. The government of that country has all the while refused to recognize this act for what it is. At any one time did it have the intention to prosecute the perpetrator as a terrorist, despite the fact that the nature of his actions is explicitly typified in the US legislation against that scourge.

Due to its strategic position, Cuba can facilitate BRICS access to important markets in LAC and establish key partnerships for the benefit of our countries

BRICS

For Cuba, it is an extraordinary honor to participate in this Meeting of Leaders of Member States in the expanded BRICS format, which is successfully taking place in the multicultural and hospitable city of Kazan. For more than 60 years, Cuba has had to face a fierce blockade imposed by successive US governments, which has also been intensified in an extreme, unprecedented and cruel manner since 2019, even during the COVID pandemic, and aggravated by the infamous and unfounded inclusion of our country in the spurious list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism, which has a very negative impact on the quality of life of all Cubans and causes severe humanitarian damage, shortages and suffering. The dignified, victorious and creative resistance of the Cuban people has received the encouragement and support of many of the countries gathered in this room, and the backing of the international community, a gesture that we deeply appreciate.
