Cuba reports 35 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, August 22, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported 35 new cases detected on Friday of COVID-19, for a total of 3,617 positive cases across the island, since the beginning of the pandemic.
Clinical trials of Cuban COVID-19 vaccine candidate begin Monday
The strategy for the development of "Soberana 01" -- the first Cuban vaccine candidate against COVID-19 with authorization to begin clinical trials -- was officially presented at the Palace of the Revolution during a meeting between the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the scientists and experts who have worked directly in the fight against the epidemic.
It was created in Greece Honor Committee by Nobel for Cuban doctors
Greek solidarity friends led by Velissarios Kossivakis announced the creation of a Greek initiative Honor Committee on the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize 2021 to the Cuban medical brigade Henry Reeve. The Committee has 350 members, all personalities in Greek socio-cultural and political life.
