Torches for Martí from the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica

Following the tradition that began at midnight on January 27, 1953, on the advent of the centenary of José Martí's birth, the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica lit the night with torches to honour the most universal of all Cubans on the 168th anniversary of his birth.

The symbolic ceremony was held by the entire group of that diplomatic mission after the call to continue carrying the Master's doctrines in their hearts, and to be consistent with Marti’s and Fidel’s legacy.

Jamaica's Minister of Health praises Cuba’s COVID-19 vaccine progress

Dr. the Honourable Christopher Tufton, Jamaica's Minister of Health, praised in this capital the advances Cuba has made in research and clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccine candidates, and made public the interest of the Jamaican government in acquiring the Cuban vaccine as soon as it is available.

Kingston, Jamaica, 27 January 2021.- Dr. the Honourable Christopher Tufton, Jamaica's Minister of Health, praised in this capital the advances Cuba has made in research and clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccine candidates, and made public the interest of the Jamaican government in acquiring the Cuban vaccine as soon as it is available.

This was expressed in a press conference offered by the health minister, who also alluded to the possible acquisition of vaccines from other countries.

Kingston, Jamaica, 24 January 2021.- The Jamaica Peace Council called on the new US administration to lift the US blockade against Cuba and remove all other sanctions against the Caribbean island.

The demand is posted on the organization's website and also includes other priorities that the new US government must consider to promote world peace and security.
