Cuba joins UNESCO in celebrating International Literacy Day
On September 8, International Literacy Day is celebrated worldwide. This date has been gaining importance since the UN approved its commemoration in 1965. The objective of this day is to evaluate how the literacy rate has improved in the member countries, in pursuit of the achievement of Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals.
Liberia celebrates “National Flag Day”.
Monrovia, August 24, 2020.- The citizens of the Republic of Liberia annually commemorate Flag Day, 24 August, which is celebrated as a national holiday throughout Liberia as a testimony to their loyalty to the National Flag.
The National Flag was designed and produced by a committee of ladies led by Ms. Susannah Lewis, who were talented and visionary citizens of the Republic at the time.

Cuban Head of Mission in Liberia holds meeting with Liberian Foreign Ministry official
Monrovia, August 17, 2020 - Respecting the measures established within the health protocols, today the Cuban Head of Diplomatic Mission in Liberia Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera held a meeting with the official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this African country Hon. David Kountu with whom she discussed the Cuba-Liberia Scholarship Program.
