Monrovia, February 20, 2023 - Invited by its directors, the Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera attended a meeting of the directors of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Association, with whom she exchanged relevant topics in the solidarity action, highlighting the interest in keeping alive the values of friendship and solidarity with the Caribbean island.
At this meeting, Mr. Kesselee King Kanneh was unanimously reelected as president of the solidarity group.

Monrovia, February 16, 2023 - As in previous years, the Mayor of Monrovia Jefferson Koijee extended an invitation to the Cuban Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera for the celebration of the 44th anniversary of Monrovia, capital of the Republic of Liberia.
Every year on February 16, "Monrovia Day" is celebrated, a date on which the mayor is responsible for reporting on the governance of the city to its inhabitants and council members.

Monrovia, February 8, 2023 - At the invitation of UN Women in Liberia, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera held a cordial and friendly meeting with Jaha Marie Dukureh, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for Africa on the eradication of female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage, and with Alison Rowe, Senior Advisor on Gender Equality at UN Women.
During the excellent exchange, they discussed issues involving women in the development of today's society.

Saydee-Tarr and UN Women Representative in Liberia Comfort Lamptey, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera participated in an activity held on the occasion of the International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - 2023.
In this context, this year's event was held under the theme: Partnering with men and boys to transform social and gender norms to end FGM.

Monrovia, February 1, 2023 - At the invitation of the Speaker of the Liberian Parliament Honorable Dr. Bhofal Chambers, Cuban Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera attended the Annual Message ceremony of the President of the Republic of Liberia to the 6th Joint Session of the 54th Legislature.
This was President Weah's last address to the nation in the 6 years of his current term.
