Cuba and New Zealand extend cooperation agreement that impacts health services in the Pacific

Wellington, September 11th, 2018. Cuba and New Zealand signed today in Wellington the extension of a cooperation agreement to support Cuban medical assistance in the Pacific.

The document, signed by Jonathan Kings, Undersecretary of the Pacific and Development Group at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trad and the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray Rodríguez, marks the commitment from both nations to continue promoting cooperation with the Pacific island nations.

Cuban movie "El Techo" presented at film festival in Wellington

Wellington, September 10th, 2018. “El Techo”, by young Cuban director Patricia Ramos, was screened in Wellington as part of the 17th edition of the Latin America & Spain Film Festival (LASFF).

The Cuban film had an excellent reception, confirmed in a screening room filled by the local audience.

"El Techo" is the debut film of Patricia Ramos. Accurate to its name, it was filmed on a rooftop in a Havana neighbourhood, in which three friends are torn between the dreams and frustrations that are part of their everyday life.

Latin American Ambassadors meet LANZBC President

Wellington.- GRULAC ambassadors held a meeting with Simon O´connor, President of the Latin America-New  Business Council (LANZBC). During the meeting both parties exchanged on the best ways to promote greater economic and commercial exchanges between the South Pacific nation and the Latin American region. 

Cuba's revolutionary history & the world today - Women role

The Auckland Cuba Friendship Society and the Embassy of Cuba in New Zealand are pleased to host Saimin Fis Abad, Third Secretary of the Cuban Embassy at a public meeting on Sunday, September 16. Saimin will introduce an exchange on Cuba's revolutionary history and Cuba in the world today. She will refer also to the role of Cuban women in society.

Cuban Ambassador hosts meeting between minister David Parker and Latin American Ambassadors

Cuban Ambassador to New Zealand, Mario Alzugaray, hosted a lunch with Foreign Trade and Export Growth minister, David Parker, together with his Latinamerican collegues. Minister David briefed the diplomats on New Zealand trade policies and his more recent exchanges with the region.

Both sides expressed their interest in closer links, based on the huge potential that Latin American has for expanding trade and economic exchanges with kiwi companies.

Also present in the event was Division Manager for the Americas at MFAT, Richard Kay.
