Young Seychellois grateful for opportunity to study in Cuba
Victoria, 18 August._ Marie-Christine Stephania Ah-Kon and Iven Travis Rachel expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to train in Cuba as future doctors during a meeting with Tomás Méndez Parra, Minister Counselor of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Victoria.
Both young students will soon travel to the island to begin their training at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in September.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba informs that Salvadoran national Otto René Rodríguez Llerena, who had been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the terrorist bombing of a hotel in Cuba in 1997, has served his sentence and, in accordance to the national legislation, has been released.
Celebrations for Fidel's centenary begin in Seychelles
Victoria, August 14, 2025. The Cuban Embassy and the Seychelles-Cuba Friendship Association (SECUFA) opened the program commemorating Fidel's centenary on August 13 with the opening of the “Fidel” photo exhibition at the National Library of Seychelles.
The exhibition brings together a selection of 16 photographs of Fidel taken through the lens of his son and photographer Alex Castro, most of them captured in the privacy of his home after his retirement from official duties, at a time when he devoted himself to researching and writing on various topics.

During the High-Level International Conference on Implementing the Two-State Solution, which took place from July 28 to 30 at the United Nations Headquarters, Ambassador Yuri Ariel Gala López, the Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations, reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and denounced the violations committed by the occupying power.
