Ambassador Alina Aldama met with Dr. Joaquín de Jesús Vaz, Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba, and Dr. Mariano da Silva Marques, Vice President of the Association of Doctors of Timorese, to discuss the current situation of the Cuban people following the executive orders issued by U.S. President Donald Trump and their negative impact on the health sector.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) expresses its profound concern regarding the ongoing and intensifying economic, commercial, and financial measures imposed upon the Republic of Cuba. The COFCOR reminds that the mounting hardships facing the Cuban people also seriously impact CARICOM nationals studying and living in Cuba, whose well-being remains a priority for the Community.

New York, May 26, 2026 – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla addressed the UN Security Council's open debate on upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, calling for the strengthening of multilateralism, international law, and the central role of the Organization in preserving international peace and security. In his remarks, he acknowledged China's leadership in convening the debate and linked the defense of the international order to the need to confront conflicts and threats that affect global stability.
The Head of State of Timor-Leste, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, led a seminar on strengthening ties between the State and Academia, with the participation of Cuban Ambassador Alina Aldama.
Díli, May 27, 2026. At the Nicolás Lobato Palace, the headquarters of the country's presidency, Head of State Dr. José Ramos-Horta delivered the keynote address, followed by a discussion on the necessary collaboration between the State and Academia for national resilience and sustainability.
The seminar focused on strengthening institutional coordination to address national and global challenges, including the transition to the era of Artificial Intelligence and Timor-Leste's integration into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
