Kingston, Jamaica, 28 February 2022. This Sunday morning, Jamaican and Cuban friends residing in Jamaica staged a caravan of cars in support of Cuba and against the inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by the US government on Cuba, the Largest Island in the Antilles.
The caravan was coordinated by the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association and was attended by members of the "Antonio Maceo" Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica, the Left Alliance for National Democracy and Socialism, the Jamaica's Peace Council, the Association of Jamaican Graduates in Cuba, and the pan-Africanist organization “Afrikan Black Star”. They were joined by other Jamaicans of good will who learned about the mobilization through social networks, and through an advertisement published by the Jamaica Observer newspaper, one of the most influential in Jamaica.
The cars making up the caravan left Emancipation Park and traveled through several of the main roads in Kingston, waving Cuban flags and displaying signs demanding an end to the blockade. Several of the participants exchanged with other drivers and passers-by and sensitized them about the reason for the mobilization.
The caravans against the blockade are part of the actions that the international solidarity movement with Cuba and organizations of patriotic Cubans such as "Puentes de Amor" carry out the last weekend of each month, to raise global awareness about the disastrous effects of this unilateral policy against the Cuban people, and the need for its elimination.
