SRI LANKA, December 12, 2019. - The Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, called on the new Foreign Minister of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena. 

During the meeting, held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both parties highlighted the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Sri Lanka, as well as exchanged on various issues of bilateral interest.

As expression of the unequivocal desire to continue strengthening the ties of its nationals abroad, the Government of the Republic of Cuba officially announces the IV “The Nation and Emigration” Conference to be held on the 8th to the 10th of April of 2020 in Havana; the corresponding invitations will be issued for the event.

Doha, 12 December 2019.- A delegation from inDER composed of Mr. Oscar Nuevo Reyes, Director of the Methodological Technical Department of High Training, and Arnaldo Rodriguez Garcia, Specialist, made a working visit to Qatar on 8-11, in the framework for exchanges of experience in the area. The delegation visited the Qatar Antidopping Laboratory, the Aspire Academy facility where he met with Mr.

The Ambassador of Cuba in Egypt Tania Aguiar Fernández visited the Ain Shams University and held an exchange on Cuban culture with the students and teachers of the Spanish Department of the Faculty of Languages.

Kingstown, December 12. The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Honorable Ralph Gonsalves, received the new Cuban Ambassador to that sister Caribbean nation, José Manuel Leyva Ventura, at his government headquarters offices.

In a fraternal and friendly atmosphere, they were able to confirm the excellent state of bilateral relations and ratified the will to continue deepening the bonds of friendship, collaboration and cooperation in various areas.

Kingstown, December 12, 2019 - This morning, José Manuel Leyva Ventura presented the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the Governor General of that country, Her Excellency Mrs. Susan Dogan, in a solemn ceremony held this Thursday in the Government House.

The “78 Dialogue”, promoted by the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz, represented the beginning of a continuous and irreversible rapprochement between Cuba and the Cuban community abroad; it has been strengthened with the passage of time and the holding of three “The Nation and Emigration” Conferences whose fundamental premise was synthesized by Fidel over 4 decades ago when he declared: “(…)  the Community must be respected.  The Community exists.  The Community is a force and the Community is to be taken into account.”

La Habana, Cuba, 11 December 2019. In the context of the XIII International Conference on Caribbean Studies, celebrated between December 9th and 11th in the University of Havana (UH), the Joint Center for the Sustainable Development of the Caribbean was officially inaugurated.

The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Miriam Nicado, chancellor of the UH, and by Dr. Hilary Beckles, vice chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

In the context of the final day of the XIII International Conference of the Chair of Caribbean Studies "Norman Girvan" of the University of Havana, Dr. Hilary Beckles, vice chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI), gave a keynote lecture at the "Aula Magna" of the Cuban higher education centre.
