Prime Minister of The Bahamas calls for elimination of restrictions imposed by the blockade

Ambassador of Cuba received by the Governor of Sarawak

Kuala Lumpur, September 28- The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba into Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández, was received in audience by the governor of Sarawak H.E. Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud.

During the meeting the Cuban diplomat offered updated information about Cuba and about the state of bilateral relations. The parties also discussed the possibilities of collaboration and exchange of experiences in the sectors of biotechnology and agriculture, one of the most important sectors of the economy of the state.

Guyana calls for the lifting of the blockade against Cuba

Georgetown, September 28, 2018. During the High Level Debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, which took place today in New York City, the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Hon. Mr. Carl Barrington Greenidge, called for lifting the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States of America against Cuba.

Meetings with Cuban residents in Carinthia (Austria) and Slovenia

Political Counselor Marieta García Jordán and Consul Roberto Vizcaíno Martínez held meetings with Cuban residents in Carinthia (Austria) and Slovenia, as part of their working visit to both regions from 21 to 24 September.

These encounters were a suitable opportunity to provide extensive information on the Constitutional Reform process. Likewise, diverse consular and migratory topics were addressed, at the time that questions and concerns of general interest were answered.

Members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba of Sri Lanka reject the blockade against Cuba

SRI LANKA, September 28, 2018. - Members of the Group of Friendship with Cuba of the Parliament express their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, in a letter addressed to the President of that country, H.E. Mathripala Sirisena, where they demand that Sri Lanka continue to support Cuba in its fight against the blockade and take it into account during its participation in the general debate of the 73 UNGA.

Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley rejected at UNGA the implementation of the US embargo against Cuba.

In a passionate and improvised speech Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, made a strong call to the international community to take concrete and decisive actions against the challenges that small developing islands states are facing. In a section of her speech she rejected the implementation of US blockade against Cuba: "We are scare-self how do our citizens feel that we must come here year after year and make the call as we do. In Barbados we speak year after year about the embargo against the people of Cuba, year after year, but we see no measures against it (…) This UN matters. It protects the small, it constraints the large. And it gives us the ability to plan out in that corridor of stability. When multilateralism is taking away from us, what are we left with and who is left to protect us, who will hear us? …what is clearly required now is a behavioral change to be able to constraint the madness that is taking place for the global governance with respect to the unilateral actions of many”.

 

The development of education and sports is affected by the limitations imposed by the US blockade on the island.

New York, September 28, 2018. Universal and free access of all Cubans to education, culture and sports has been a fundamental goal of the Revolution, further proof of this are the 8 180 000 000 Cuban pesos allocated in the state budget, which guarantees an enrollment of 1,775,000 students in Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education and of 185,000, in Higher Education.

Cuba and Latvia advocate expansion of bilateral relations

Helsinki, September 28, 2018. The bilateral ties between Cuba and Latvia were analyzed on September 26, during a meeting held by the Cuban Ambassador Eduardo Lazo Pérez with H.E. Mr. Andris Pelšs, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, as part of the visit made by the Cuban diplomat to the capital of the Baltic country.
