Mr. President,

We appreciate this meeting of the Committee on Relations with the Host Country.

The current session of the Committee should promote and find effective solutions to the problems raised by Member States, as a result of the repeated noncompliance of the Host Country with the obligations stemming from the United Nations Headquarters Agreement. The legal mechanisms established to resolve disputes and restore violated rights should be used.

First of all, we would like to extend our congratulations to the distinguished Ambassadors of Poland and the United Arab Emirates on their appointment as co-chairs of the intergovernmental negotiation process for the reform of the Security Council at the 74th session. The delegation of Cuba wishes them every success in their work, for which they count on our support.

Mr. President,

Cuba regrets that the United States´ delegation, once again, attempts to politicize the work of the Executive Board, in this case the process of adoption of the UNICEF Country Programme Document for Cuba.

Once again, attempts are made to modify the working practices and methods of this body and focus is diverted from what should be the essence of the discussions in this room: stand up for children´s rights, help them meet their basic needs and enhance their opportunities to achieve their full potential.
