Declaration of 123 countries demanding the exclusion of Cuba from the Unilateral List of States Allegedly Sponsoring Terrorism
Human Rights Council, Geneva, Switzerland, June 27, 2024
The List of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism goes against the fundamental principles and peremptory norms of International Law, including international solidarity.
The process by which the designation for said list is made is neither clear nor transparent.
It negatively affects the realization and enjoyment of fundamental human rights, including the rights to food, health, education, economic and social rights, the right to life and the right to development.
Remove Cuba from the list of countries supporting terrorism. Statement by Swedish Committee for Peace
The decision to include Cuba on the US list of countries supporting terrorism was made by former President Donald Trump. Under Joe Biden, no attempt has been made to remove Cuba from the list and there is little hope that this will happen under a new government in the United States after this fall's elections without strong international pressure. Countries that the United States includes on its list entail severe economic sanctions against them.
The ruse itself is a violation of People's Law, which does not allow such aggressive measures against individual countries.
