Cuba reports 57 new cases of COVID-19
Havana, September 17 , 2020.- The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia said Cuba diagnosed 57 new cases of Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing to 4933 the number of people who have contracted the disease on the island.
Addressing the daily media update on the disease on Thursday, Duran said 56 patients were Cuban, and almost all of them were confirmed case contacts who had already been hospitalized at the moment of testing positive.
Ciego de Avila and Havana remain the most affected provinces, with 35 and 27 cases respectively.
Cuban President to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, will deliver a statement, on 22 September, at the General Debate of the 75th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Cuba will be the seventh speaker during the morning session on the opening day of this important event, which this year will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 170 Heads of State and Government are expected to attend.

La Habana, 17 ago (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel, Presidente de la República de Cuba, se reúne en la mañana de hoy con los miembros de las Brigadas Henry Reeve que combatieron la COVID-19 en Togo y Kuwait, luego cumplir el estipulado periodo de cuarentena.
“Una vez más en nombre de todo el pueblo, felicitaciones por esa labor tan inmensa que realizan”, expresó el mandatario, señala en su perfil en Twitter el Ministerio de Salud Pública.

Havana, August 14 (RHC)-- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported 56 new cases detected yesterday of COVID-19, for a total of 3,229 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Friday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up until 12 midnight Thursday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 88 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
