Over 50,000 Germans reject US blockade against Cuba
Berlin, July 21, 2020.- Over 50,000 signatures are currently supporting an initiative promoted by German artists and scholars to demand an end to the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for almost six decades.
Launched on June 23 on the online website change.org by German citizens who work and live on Cuba, the petition has so far been supported by personalities from culture and science, former ministers, sociologists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, historians and professors of International Law, among many other sectors.
Cuba reports three new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, July 21, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported three new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,449 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Tuesday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up until 12 midnight Monday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 87 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
Medical brigade returns to Cuba after concluding mission in Italy
Rome, jul 20, 2020.- The 38 Cuban physicians who helped face the Covid-19 during three months in Turin, returned to their country today amidst countless displays of recognition and affection.
Although the members of the Henry Reeve Contingent worked in the capital of the Piedmont region, they began their return trip to Havana from the Milan-Malpensa airport in neighboring Lombardy on a direct flight of the Blue Panorama airline that took off at noon, local time.
Culture and politics foster changes in Cuba-US relations
Havana, Jul 20, 2020.- The call to lift the US economic blockade against Cuba and to recognize the Caribbean nation's health personnel with Nobel Peace Prize are the focus of today's speeches by some activists, politicians, artists and intellectuals from around the world.
Dozens of renowned figures from the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa joined the online Concert for Cuba, an initiative by the Chicago Hot House and supported by the Cuban Music Institute and the Ministry of Culture.
