Cuba reports four new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, July 14, 2020-- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were four new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,432 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Tuesday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up until 12 midnight Monday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 87 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
Cuba contains the pandemic, but can't be overconfident
Havana, July 14, 2020-- As the world dawned Monday with 222,967 new people infected with COVID-19, two new cases were reported in Cuba, one of them with a source of infection abroad. These figures, although they do not constitute a reason for confidence in the current scenario, speak of how much work is still being done on the island to contain the spread of the disease, which has its current epicenter in the region of the Americas.
Cuban health professionals awarded in Italy
Rome, Jul 13, 2020.- The presidency of the Piedmont Regional Council on Monday granted an award for civil merits to the 38 Cuban health professionals who fought Covid-19 along with Italian colleagues in Turin for three months.
The recognition highlights 'the role the medical team has played during the 2020 health emergency, dedication and high professionalism lavished daily caring Piedmontese patients with Covid-19.'
Cuban doctors treat the most serious Covid-19 cases in Haiti
Port-au-Prince, jul 12, 2020.- Cuban health professionals have been helping to fight Covid-19 in Haiti since April, and so far they have attended some of the most complex cases of the disease that plagues the country today.
The twenty specialists of the Henry Reeve brigade work in the main treatment center of the national public health system, located in the central avenue of Delmas in the capital.
