Culture and politics foster changes in Cuba-US relations

Havana, Jul 20, 2020.- The call to lift the US economic blockade against Cuba and to recognize the Caribbean nation's health personnel with Nobel Peace Prize are the focus of today's speeches by some activists, politicians, artists and intellectuals from around the world.

Dozens of renowned figures from the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa joined the online Concert for Cuba, an initiative by the Chicago Hot House and supported by the Cuban Music Institute and the Ministry of Culture.

Cuba reports no new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours

Havana, July 20, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were no new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,445 positive cases across the island.  

Doctors who worked in St. Vincent and the Grenadines arrives back to Cuba

Havana, July 17, 2020 -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel welcomed the brigade of health professionals that collaborated in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Upon the arrival of this group in the early hours of the morning at the José Martí International Airport in Havana, its members received via video the gratitude and recognition of the head of state on behalf of Army General Raúl Castro, the Cuban Communist Party and the population.

St. Lucia´s Minister of Health thanks Cuban doctors´ help

Castries, Jul 17, 2020.- The Minister of Health of Saint Lucia, Mary Isaac, expressed on behalf of her people and government the gratitude to the Cuban health workers for their effort in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

As reflected on his Twitter account, the Cuban diplomatic mission in Santa Lucia territory, Isaac highlighted before local press the contribution and service provided by the Cuban health personnel during these months of struggle against Covid-19.

US attempts to prevent Cuba's medical cooperation rejected

Havana, Jul 16, 2020.- The director general for the United States Department of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations, Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, on Thursday strongly rejected constant US attempts to hamper Cuba's medical cooperation to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in other nations.

While the US government seems unwilling or unable to protect its citizens from the Covid-19, it finds time and commits resources to threaten countries that request Cuba's medical cooperation in their legitimate fight against the pandemic, he live-tweeted.
