Cuba reports two new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, June 28, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were two new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,332 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Sunday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Saturday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 86 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
Arreaza condemns US attempt to stop Cuba's medical collaboration
Venezuela's Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza described on Thursday as perverse the attempts of US congresspeople to propose sanctions against countries that accept Cuba's medical collaboration.
'Millions of people have been saved in almost 20 years of medical collaboration in Cuba, just in the case of Venezuela, although this extends to dozens of nations,' the FM told Prensa Latina.
OECS rejects US pressures against Cuba's medical cooperation
The director general of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Didacus Jules, from Saint Lucia, on Thursday rejected pressures by the United States against Cuba's medical cooperation.
In statements to Choice TV, Jules referred to the draft bill introduced by US senators to sanction countries that benefit from Cuba's medical cooperation.
Those actions only benefit US interests and have nothing to do with the history of cooperation and solidarity of the Eastern Caribbean with Cuba, he underlined.
Recovery stage points to successful strategy against COVID-19
Havana, June 25, 2020 -- The development of the first phase of Cuba's recovery, which has begun throughout the country except in the capital, augurs well for the success of the country's strategy against COVID-19.
This Wednesday, the highest authorities of the government highlighted the favorable deployment of the de-escalation by reporting only one new positive case of the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 85 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
