PM Says Region Will Pushback Against US Bill Targeting Cuban Healthcare Workers
June 22, 2020.- Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua & Barbuda will lobby and pushback against a proposed US bill targeting Cuban healthcare workers.
He notes that the recent bill introduced by Republican Senator Rick Scott which classifies Cuba’s humanitarian assistance as “human trafficking” seeks to extend punitive measures against countries accepting this medical assistance.
“They will be literally punishing countries who utilize Cuba nurses and doctors,” he said.“We think that is extremely unfortunate,”the prime minister added.
Cuba detects three new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, June 23, 2020. - The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were three new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,318 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Tuesday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Monday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus. A total of 85 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.

Cuban president says COVID-19 figures improving significantly
Havana, June 21, 2020-- The statistics that are religiously reported every morning show a nation with remarkably low rates in the battle against COVID-19, although the battle for life continues.
The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, spoke of the hopeful numbers at the meeting he leads every day with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz. The four cases that were reported, he said, is the lowest number of positives in a day after we reached the peak of the epidemic. At other times we had five, six, but four is the lowest.
