Cuba will participate in the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States Ministerial Council
Havana, 18 June 2020. – On Friday, 19 June Cuba will participate in the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Ministerial Council, to be held online.
In the meeting there will be an exchange on actions carried out by the ACS in the field of tourism, trade, transport, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, as well as the sustainability of the Caribbean Sea. The elections for the new Secretary-General of the Association and the new Executive Board of the Ministerial Council and Special Committees are scheduled.

Díaz-Canel expresses confidence that Cuba can move quickly through the phases of recovery
Havana, June 18, 2020 - The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed his confidence that, because of the way in which we have worked in the country, we are in a position to move in all the provinces -- except for Havana and Matanzas -- to the first phase of the recovery stage of the disease and to advance, if we control it well, quite rapidly through the rest of the phases.
Cubans remember Vilma Espín's legacy 13 years after her death
Havana, June 18, 2020-- Cubans remember Vilma Espín, revolutionary fighter and defender of the full rights of women, on the thirteenth anniversary of her death on June 18, 2007.
Born on April 7, 1930 in the eastern province of Santigo de Cuba, into a family of high economic standing, Vilma defended dignity, emancipation, justice and equality during her entire life.
From a young age, she assumed revolutionary political positions, and actively participated in student demonstrations after the March 10, 1952 coup d'état by dictator Fulgencio Batista.
Cuba detects 15 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours
Havana, June 18, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 15 new cases detected of COVID-19, for an total of 2,295 positive cases across the island.
During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- unfortunately, one patient died from the coronavirus. A total of 85 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.
