Illinois House of Representatives urges to end US blockade on Cuba

Washington, 1 June 2021.The Illinois House of Representatives approved a resolution calling Congress to eliminate the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, which has been in force for six decades.

The document is the 33rd adopted by a local or State authority in the US territory in the interest of improving bilateral relations, Havana's ambassador to Washington, Lianys Torres, tweeted on Tuesday.

The blockade policy and its intimidating effect

Diplomat rejects Cuba's inclusion in US unilateral list of terrorists

Havana, 26 May 2021. The deputy director-general of the United States Department at the Foreign Ministry, Johana Tablada, on Wednesday rejected Cuba's inclusion in the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.

On her Twitter account, the official noted that the decision to keep Cuba in Washington's unilateral list, as reaffirmed on Tuesday by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, says much more about the government of that power than about the Caribbean island.

Cuban baseball team travels to US for Pre-Olympic Tournament

Havana, 26 May 2021. The Cuban baseball team is traveling to the United States on Wednesday to participate in the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Florida.

In statements to Radio Havana Cuba, Luis Daniel del Risco, treasurer of the Cuban Baseball Federation, noted that the team, coached by Armando Ferrer, is leaving in the afternoon and will hold two training games, one each against the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
