Cuba stresses the urgency of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

At a meeting of UNGA on the humanitarian situation in Palestine, Cuba warned that every moment of passivity, double standards or silence will cost more innocent lives. During his speech, Ambassador Gerardo Peñalver Portal thanked the data offered by representatives of different UN agencies that reflect the seriousness of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Cuba: Blockades and sanctions do not contribute to peace and international security.

Ambassador Gerardo Peñalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the open debate of the Security Council on the promotion of sustained peace through common development. During his speech, Peñalver Portal highlighted the relevance of the issue in a context of a global multidimensional crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Cuba reiterates its support for comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council.

Ambassador Yusnier Romero Puentes, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to UN, addressed the General Assembly's debate on Question of equitable representation and increase in the membership of the Security Council, and reiterated Cuba´s support for a comprehensive reform of the council, including its working methods, to make it a transparent, democratic and representative body.

I bring from Cuba a message of solidarity and support for the Palestinian people. The indiscriminate attacks against the civil population and the United Nations workers; the bombings against hospitals, ambulances and schools and the mass destruction of housing and vital infrastructure are a collective punishment as well as a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law.

Cuba and G-77 call for more unity and cooperation at UNESCO.

"Convinced that only through unity, solidarity and international cooperation will we be able to move towards the realization of our legitimate aspirations for development, our Presidency has promoted an agenda that addresses the historical demands of our countries," said the Minister of Education,  Naima Ariatne Trujillo, at UNESCO.
