Cuba reiterates at UNESCO its denunciation of the blockade and unjust inclusion in the list of states that sponsor terrorism
Paris, October 14, 2024. This Monday, the general debate of the 220th session of the Executive Council, the main body of the organization, in which Cuba participates as a member, began at UNESCO headquarters.
During her speech, the Cuban Representative to this body, Ambassador Dulce Buergo Rodríguez, president of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO, denounced the negative impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government more than 60 years ago.

Cuba and UNESCO exchange views on Cultural and Artistic Education

As part of her program of activities in Paris, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, met with the Assistant Director General for the Education Sector, Ms. Stephania Giannini, in which they exchanged views on the development of Cultural and Artistic Education. The Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, also participated in the meeting.

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Enslaved Persons' Route Programme provided a propitious setting for the exchange between the Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, and the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences Sector, Ms. Gabriela Ramos, to which was also attended by the Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro.
UNESCO recognizes Cuba's development in culture and heritage despite the impact of the blockade and sanctions imposed by the US government

Within the framework of her visit to Paris to participate in the event for the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO program on the Route of Enslaved People, the Vice Minister of Culture of Cuba, Lillitsy Hernández Oliva, held a fruitful exchange with the Assistant Director General for the Culture Sector, Mr. Ernesto Ottone and his team. The Ambassador of the Island to UNESCO María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro also participated.
At the meeting, the senior official of the Organization and his companions recognized Cuba's development and commitment in the areas of attention of the Sector, despite the repercussions of the blockade and the sanctions imposed against the Island.
