Cuba congratulates the new Director-General nominated by UNESCO’s Executive Board
Paris, 6 October 2025. – Within the framework of the 222nd session of UNESCO’s Executive Board, the candidate of Egypt, Dr. Khaled Ahmed El-Enany Ali Ezz, was nominated for the post of Director-General of the Organization by a large majority, obtaining 55 votes in his favour.
In her statement following the official announcement of the results, the Ambassador of Cuba, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, conveyed congratulations on behalf of her country and reaffirmed Cuba’s support, as well as that of the Cuban Delegation to UNESCO, for the successful performance of his mandate.

Workers from the Permanent Delegation of Cuba to UNESCO Subscribes Declaration in Defense of Peace in Venezuela
Paris, 3 October 2025. – The staff of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Cuba to UNESCO expressed its firm support for peace, sovereignty, and respect for the principle of non-interference this Friday by subscribing to the declaration titled "It is Urgent to Prevent a Military Aggression Against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."
The document, released from Havana, reflects the serious concern of the Cuban State regarding the increase in hostile actions, threats, and destabilization maneuvers directed against Venezuela, and warns of the risk of a military escalation with grave repercussions for the stability of Latin America and the Caribbean. In this context, Cuba reaffirms its permanent solidarity with the Venezuelan people and with President Nicolás Maduro Moros, as well as its rejection of any attempt to violate the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and International Law.
Egyptian Foreign Minister and Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO hold cordial meeting
Paris, 3 October 2025. – In a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Cuba to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro.
The meeting, which took place at the premises of the Egyptian Embassy in this city, allowed both parties to exchange views on the historical ties between the two countries, recalling in particular the close relationship between the Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and the Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, united by their vocation for social justice. In this context, they agreed on the importance of strengthening relations between Cuba and Egypt in both the political and economic spheres.
A Pretext for Military Action Against Venezuela. Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Havana, October 3, 2025.- As the Revolutionary Government warned on September 18, the actions of the United States aimed at justifying military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have continued to escalate.
There has been a significant buildup of military assets in the southern Caribbean, recent unlawful incursions by U.S. combat aircraft into Venezuelan Flight Information Regions, and repeated attacks on civilian vessels, resulting in the destruction of these vessels and the killings of their crews. Furthermore, the announcement that such military actions may extend to land areas has raised serious concerns. This situation is further compounded by the notification that the United States considers itself engaged in a non-international armed conflict against unlawful combatants.
