Statement by H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, at the High-Level Segment of the United Nations General Assembly marking the seventy fifth Anniversary of the United Nations. September 21th, 2020.
On the seventy fifth anniversary of the United Nations, multilateralism and international Law are being threatened by the greatest power in the world. The US irresponsible behavior is the biggest threat to international peace and security. It instigates conflicts, non-conventional and trade wars and imposes severe unilateral coercive measures. In an arms race of its own making, it squanders resources that are indispensable for the sustainable development of our peoples, while refusing to cooperate to confront the multiple crises generated by the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.
The most advanced vaccine against Covid-19 in Latin America
The “Sovereign 01” vaccine began clinical trials in humans, becoming the first in Latin America to advance to this second phase and joined 29 others that the WHO has already approved for clinical trials. The Cuban vaccine candidate is moving forward successfully: since the clinical trials began on August 24, "he reports zero serious adverse events after the injection of the first 20 volunteers."
Ambassador of Cuba holds a meeting with the Minister of Climate Change and Environment
The Cuban ambassador to the United Arab Emirates held a virtual conference with the Minister of Climate Change and Environment. At the meeting, both sides expressed their will to work together to fulfill the existing opportunities in diverse cooperation projects while benefiting from the valuable exchange of experiences from their counterparts in various fields. Once again the high level of bilateral relations was ratified, as well as the admiration and mutual respect between the two countries.

The Cuban Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Roberto Blanco, held a virtual conference with His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State for Foreign Relations and Cooperation, in charge of cultural affairs in the UAE. On this occasion, both parties made reference to the state of cultural relations between the two countries and the potential to strengthen cooperation in that sector.
