Council of State convenes session of Cuban Parliament

Cuba's Council of State convened an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) for May 25, whose agenda includes an update on the country's economic situation, it was reported today.

A note published in the Granma newspaper indicates that at that meeting, starting at 09:00 local time, the Social Communication Bill and the Proposal of the Legislative Schedule of the 10th Legislature will also be discussed.

European initiative against blockade of Cuba supported in the Americas

Organizations and personalities from Latin American countries and the United States added their voice this week to the campaign of the Europe for Cuba channel "World Tsunami against the blockade", the platform of solidarity with the island highlighted today.

Argentine Nobel Peace Prize winner and activist Adolfo Pérez Esquivel was one of those who supported the call to put an end to the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Antillean nation, a policy that has been in place for more than six decades.

The inclusion of Cuba on the U.S. list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism today generates countless difficulties for the island's families, denounced two prominent U.S. political figures.

 This was endorsed in an opinion article published in The Boston Globe, a Massachusetts newspaper, by Democratic Representative Jim McGovern and Patrick Leahy, former president pro tempore of the Senate, who was a member of that legislative body from 1975 to January of this year.

Cuba's Nasalferon drug against Covid-19 rated as safe

The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) ratified today that the drug Nasalferon developed in Cuba against Covid-19 is safe and well tolerated.

The drug, which strengthens the immune system and is administered nasally in a prophylactic scheme with a drop in each nostril twice a day for 10 days, can reduce the risk of severe symptoms in people who contract Covid-19," said a message from the CIGB on the social network Twitter.

Havana hosts International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba

More than 1,000 foreign delegates will participate today in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba and anti-imperialism 200 years after the Monroe Doctrine at the Havana Convention Center.

The foreign visitors will be joined by around 200 national delegates who, together, will raise their voices against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade and in favor of the elimination of the Caribbean country from Washington's unilateral list of nations that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
