Unfinished letter of José Martí is remembered in Cuba
The anti-annexionist purposes and in favor of Latin American unity of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, are still valid today, 128 years after he wrote an unfinished letter to his friend Manuel Mercado.
The document, dated May 18, 1895 in the middle of the war scenario in eastern Cuba, defines the principles and objectives of the struggle for independence, which began again on February 24 of that year.
Details on changes in Cuba's passport expanded
The general director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Living Abroad, Ernesto Soberon, today offered new details on the migratory measures regarding the extension of passport validity.
In a direct transmission on the social network Facebook, Soberón said that passports with 10-year validity will be those issued as of July 1.
He explained that it was decided that those documents with six-year validity and those to be issued soon will coexist in time, until the first half of 2029.
Cuba extends passport validity and eliminates extensions
In response to the criteria of Cubans living abroad, the Cuban Foreign Ministry announced today measures that include the extension of the validity of passports, the elimination of extensions and the reduction of the cost of the document.
The general director of Consular Affairs and attention to Cubans living abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ernesto Soberón, said that the decision will take effect on July 1 and is part of the updating of the country's migratory policy for the benefit of family relations.

The Washington DC City Council, in the United States, approved a resolution urging President Biden to lift the blockade and remove Cuba from the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
Resolution PR25-0113, entitled "Sense of the Council on the Reestablishment of Relations between Cuba and the US", expresses the will of the American people to normalize relations between the two countries.
