Vietnam congratulates Cuba on 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties
Vietnamese leaders on December 2 sent messages of congratulations to Cuban leaders on the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 2, 1960–2025).
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam extended his warm congratulations to Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba.
Vietnam, Cuba target 500 mln USD in two-way trade
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thị Thang and Cuban Vice Minister of International Trade and Foreign Investment Deborah Rivas Saavedra set a target to lift two-way trade to 500 million USD soon as they co-chaired the first session of the Joint Committee of the Vietnam - Cuba Trade Agreement in Havana on December 1. The meeting launched the first formal periodic mechanism for both nations to monitor the 2020 bilateral trade agreement, remove bottlenecks, and identify priority areas for effective rollout. It was expected to advance economic, trade, and investment ties as the two nations mark their 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
Prensa Latina news agency launches column highlighting Cuba–Việt Nam fraternity
The online newspaper of Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency has officially launched a column entitled “Cuba–Việt Nam: 65 Years of Fraternity” to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 2, 1960 – 2025).
The column features articles and photos on high-level bilateral visits by Party and State leaders, as well as people-to-people exchange activities that illustrate the faithful and loyal friendship between the two nations.
Book detailing historic development of relations between Vietnam–Cuba launched in Hanoi
A book on Vietnam–Cuba relations was launched in Hanoi on November 12, as part of activities marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (December 2, 1960 – December 2, 2025). The book, entitled "65 Years of Fostering the Exemplary and Loyal Friendship between Vietnam and Cuba", was jointly compiled and published by the Su That (Truth) National Political Publishing House and the Embassy of Cuba in Vietnam. It offers a rich and vivid reflection of the historical milestones that have nurtured the rare and exemplary bond of solidarity between the two nations – a symbol of the era and a priceless legacy of their Parties and peoples.
Vietnam: Lawmakers call for ending US blockade against Cuba
The Vietnam-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group called the United States government to put an end to the economic, financial, and commercial blockade and remove the island from Washington's State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list. In a message of greeting and solidarity sent to the Cuban National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), the group also urged the US administration to “take the necessary steps to normalize relations” with the Caribbean nation. High-level Vietnamese leaders have repeatedly reaffirmed this stance, the letter underscores, and cited speeches delivered before the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), last year, and current President Luong Cuong a few days ago.
