Monrovia, February 24, 2020 - The "Daily Observer" newspaper published today, February 24, in its digital and print versions, an extensive article entitled "Cuba thanks Africa for its rejection of the US blockade".
Written by journalist Joaquin Sendolo, the text refers to Cuba's thanks to the African Union for having ratified the rejection of the US blockade during the 33rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of that organization".
The article points out that "the African Union Resolution recognizes the blockade as the main obstacle for Cuba to apply the United Nations Program for Sustainable Development of 2030, while reaffirming its support to the United Nations General Assembly Resolution on the subject, which every year receives the unanimous support of the African States".
The text also refers to Cuba-United States relations and to statements made by the Cuban Chargé d'Affaires in this African country, Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera, on bilateral Cuba-Liberia relations, application of "Title III of the Helms-Burton Act", and the assistance Cuba provides to African countries in areas such as health, education and agriculture.
