Executive Summary of the Assessment by the Cuban Scientific Panel of Medical Reports regarding the health of U.S. diplomats and their families previously stationed in Havana

The Academy of Sciences of Cuba has created the Cuban Scientific Panel (CSP) to examine the evidence regarding the alleged “attacks” on US embassy staffers and their families stationed in Havana. For more than a year the CSP has requested medical information. The only data available is the article of Swanson et al. (2018), henceforth referred to as “the report”. This was published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and describes the examinations carried out by a medical team at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) at the request of the US State Department.

Cuba hands over a US citizen claimed by Interpol

On August 9, 2018, the Cuban government proceeded in Havana to the hand over to authorities of the US Government a US citizen wanted by that country´s justice system for crimes committed in the US, and for whom there is an Interpol warrant of seizure, with a Red Alert. This individual entered the national territory on July 31, 2018. 

Migration talks between Cuba and the United States held in Washington D.C.

On July 11, 2018, a new round of migration talks was held between the delegations from Cuba and the United States, which were presided over by the Director General for U.S. Affairs at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, and by the Coordinator for Cuban Affairs at the State Department, Gabriel Escobar, respectively.

Cuba and the United States hold fourth meeting on law enforcement dialogue

On July 10, 2018, a fourth meeting was held in Washington D.C. between authorities from law enforcement agencies from Cuba and the United States. This meeting is a continuity of the one held in the same city on September 15, 2017.

The purpose of these exchanges is to coordinate the bilateral cooperation in the field of law enforcement and to advance in the combat against the different crimes that threaten the security of the two countries such as terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, trafficking in persons, cybercrimes, among others.
