Díaz-Canel received U.S. Senator Jeff Flake and Google Executive Chairman  

On Monday afternoon, the President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received Republican Senator Jeff Flake and Google Executive Chairman, Eric Emerson Schmidt.

During the meeting they exchanged on the state of the bilateral relationship between Cuba and the United States, as well as potential areas of cooperation of mutual interest.

The distinguished visitors were accompanied by H. E. Philip Goldberg, Chargé d'Affaires of the United States in Cuba. 

Cuban and U.S. specialists set out on a joint expedition to the Coasts of Florida’s Southern Keys

On May 17- 22, 2018, Cuban and U.S. specialists set out on an expedition to the keys in the South of Florida to conduct a geological survey of the coasts and identify any possible land movement in the area caused by tsunamis and hurricanes. The Cuban team was represented by three researches from the National Center for Seismological Research, of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (Citma). The U.S. was represented by the United States Geological Survey.  

Cuban experts paid visit to the National Earthquake Information Center of the United States

On May 7- 11, 2018, experts from the National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS) of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA), paid a visit to the National Earthquake Information Center of  the United States Geological Survey, located in Golden, Colorado, in the United States. The purpose of said visit was to identify the seismic records of earthquakes with epicenter in the Florida Straits registered by both seismological services.

Festival Artes de Cuba reaches the Embassy of Cuba in the United States

With the presence of an important group of artists who are participating in the Festival Artes de Cuba these days, an event was held in the Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. to acknowledge the holding of this Festival, the largest of its kind to be held in the United States, and the work of the John F. Kennedy Center in organize it. 

Council of the District of Columbia honors the Festival Artes de Cuba

The Council of the District of Columbia passed a resolution in which it acknowledges and honors the Festival Artes de Cuba, launched on May 8 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a prestigious institution based in the U.S. capital city. 

The resolution was presented to the Ambassador of Cuba to the United States, José Ramón Cabañas, by representatives of the City Council in an event held at the Embassy of Cuba in Washington D.C. to honor the Festival Artes de Cuba, the largest of its kind to be held in the United States.
