Statement of Ambassador of Cuba in the Virtual Seminar on “Unilateral Coercive Measures in the Context of COVID-19 Pandemic”

The world now faces a highly complex international scenario, where multilateralism and international cooperation, which are the only instruments to promote common goals and find solutions to our collective problems, are undermined by the aggressive and unilateral behavior of some countries.

Cuba rejects the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against any country, which are incompatible with International Law, harm the peoples and contravene the foundations of the multilateral system.

Statement of Cuba on the subject of Technical Cooperation of the IAEA Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee

Madam president:
The Cuban delegation congratulates you on your recent election as President of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Cuba appreciates the presentation of the GOV / 2020/44 report by the Deputy Director General, Mr. Dazhu Yang, detailing the Agency's technical cooperation program for 2021 and requesting approval of the funds necessary to carry it out.
Regarding what is stated in the Report, Cuba presents the following considerations:

“THE UNITED STATES STRENGTHENS ITS CAMPAIGN AGAINST CUBA’S INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL COOPERATION”

The Cuban people and the international community are aware of the dishonest campaign that the government of the United States has launched since 2019 to discredit Cuba’s international medical cooperation; exert pressure on the governments that have asked for it and deprive peoples of these health services.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba denounces that, as part of that offensive, the US government has unleashed an array of pressures and blackmails against the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO).
