Official visit of the General Secretary of the World Federation of Trade Unions to Cuba and other Latin American countries.

The WFTU General Secretary, Pambis Kyritsis, will arrive today July 20, 2023 in Cuba, in his first visit to Latin America and which includes a multitude of important activities in four countries. 

The first destination will be Cuba where he will meet with the trade union and political leadership and will have the opportunity to dialogue with Cuban workers at the Fidel Castro Center and in various workplaces, conveying the unwavering internationalist solidarity of the WFTU with the heroic Cuban people.

Solidarity with Cuba is present in Cyprus

On the morning of 19 July, a first container of medical aid was loaded for the "Juan Manuel Márquez" paediatric hospital in the Marianao municipality of Havana, thanks to friends of solidarity, businessmen, the Cuban dance school Caliente dance estudio, the bishopric of Tamasos and Orinis and other anonymous donors.

 The container loaded today shows the militant solidarity in Cyprus towards Cuba. In the coming weeks another container will be sent in which other medical supplies will also be sent to the Caribbean island.

In accordance with the unanimous decision of the Presidential Council 2023, the World Federation of Trade Unions is organising a campaign of solidarity with the people of Cuba, on the occasion of 26 July, the anniversary of the assault on the Cuartel Moncada in Santiago de Cuba, spreading the strong internationalist message that Cuba is not alone.

Cuban Embassy in Cyprus donates toys to the school Solidarity with Panama.

This morning the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero and his family handed over a donation of toys to the school Solidarity with Panama. The Ambassador was received by the headmistress of the school Teresa la Ocho and the Board of Directors. During the exchange they discussed the letters sent by the children of the Cypriot special needs school Ayios Spyridonas and coordinated future cooperation with the Cypriot institution.
