The Ambassador of Cuba participates in the National Commemoration of Famine, held in the city of Cork with the presence of Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland.

The University of Cork was the venue of the national commemoration that remembers the victims of the great famine, which hit Ireland in the middle of the 19th century and that caused more than one million victims and forced the largest emigration of Ireland. Its population was reduced by more than two and a half million people and even today Ireland has less population than in 1850.

The Ambassador of Cuba makes a courtesy visit to the Lord Mayor of the city of Cork.

Within the framework of a joint visit to the city of Cork, on the occasion of the annual National Famine Commemoration, which was hosted by the University of Cork, a representation of the Ambassadors of GRULAC residing in Ireland, composed of the Chiefs mission of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba and Mexico, held a courtesy meeting with the Lord Major of Cork, Tony Fitzgerald, who outlined the county's growth projects in territory and population, as well as the perspectives that are opening for a more extensive collaboration with other cities.

Ambassador of Cuba in Ireland made a working visit to the University of Cork.

The Cuban Ambassador in Ireland Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes held a meeting with Prof. Patrick G. O'Shea, President of the University College of Cork, as well as with other professors and executives in charge of the University's external cooperation.

In this meeting, the academic links of this house of high studies with Latin American Universities, including Cubans, in various areas such as language teaching, postgraduate specialization and obtaining scientific degrees in exact, technical and social sciences were highlighted.

The Ambassador of Cuba meets with the Solidarity Forum of the most numerous Irish Union.

Dublin, May 2018. The Cuban Ambassador in Ireland, Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes, held a meeting with the Executive of the Global Solidarity Forum, belonging to the SIPTU Union, headed by Padraig Peyton, honorary president and Ethel Buckley, deputy secretary general. Both parties exchanged about the celebration of International Workers' Day in their respective countries.
