Addis Ababa, January 17, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba, Meylin Suárez Álvarez, delivered the Copies of Style of her Letters of Credence that accredit her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Chief of Protocol of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, Dr. Aziza Geleta Dessalegn.
Addis Ababa, January 16, 2025.- The ambassador-designate to the African Union, Lucas D. Hernández, after his arrival in Ethiopia, began courtesy visits to the African embassies accredited to the country. Hernández visited the Head of Mission of the Embassy of Madagascar in Addis Ababa, Eric Randriamandrato, with whom he exchanged on issues of bilateral and multilateral interest.

Despite its limited scope, this is a decision that points to the right direction and is in line with the sustained and firm demand by the government and the people of Cuba, as well as the broad, emphatic and reiterated call by numerous governments, particularly those of Latin America and the Caribbean; Cubans residing abroad; political, religious and social organizations and numerous political figures of the United States and other countries. The government of Cuba expresses its gratitude to all of them for their contribution and sensitivity.

As part of the close and fluid relations with the Vatican, the Government of Cuba has remained in touch with Pope Francis and his representatives and, as has occurred in the past, has kept His Holiness informed about the processes of review of the convictions and the release on imprisoned person, a practice that is common in our judicial system and has characterized the humanitarian record of the Revolution.
Addis Ababa, January 14, 2025.- The Ethiopian filmmaker Negash Abdurahman, creator of the documentary "Cuba in Africa" and the former Ethiopian ambassador in Havana, Berhanu Dibaba Kumma, visited the headquarters of Cuba's residence in Ethiopia, on a courtesy visit to the new ambassadors of Cuba appointed to the country and the African Union, Meylin Suárez Álvarez and Lucas D. Hernández Polledo.
